Optimal Routing / Voice Mail Trombone Elimination
Eliminate Voicemail Trombone Costs
When a roaming subscriber has a call directed to voicemail, two international legs, one out and one back, are set up. Someone has to pay for these legs. It might be the subscriber or it might be the operator. Some regulatory bodies have legislated that it should be the operator.
If the subscriber pays, it causes dissatisfaction and may deter them from forwarding calls to voice mail when roaming. Indeed it may deter them from roaming at all. If the operator pays, the cost disappears straight off of the bottom line.
So it makes sense to find a way to eliminate these legs if you can. Evolved Intelligence’s Optimal Routing system does just that. It removes both of the international routing legs. It also handles other late call forwarding scenarios, such as no reply and not reachable, regardless of the final destination country. The system routes the call using the most direct and efficient route.
Benefits
- Reduced routing costs for the HPLMN
- No roaming charges for HPLMN roaming subscriber when receiving voicemails
- Increased roaming revenue potential for the HPLMN as roaming subscribers are more likely to use their mobile device when roaming
- Compliance with European Union regulations
- Multiple options to cope with different network topologies
- Works for pre-pay and post-pay customers
- Does not need CAMEL to be present in your partner's networks
- Remembers the B party number (avoids the caller being asked to re-enter the number)
- Minimal system intervention
How It Works
Optimal Routing is one of many applications that can be run on the Evolved Intelligence’s advanced IN “ENGINE” platform. It uses a simple network connection system called a NIF or network interface function. This low cost, efficient connection communicates to the ENGINE server which can be located anywhere, connectivity being maintained via IP or various alternative methods. The application can therefore be delivered remotely either from an Evolved Intelligence server or from one of our service partners. Alternatively the server can be located in your own offices and managed by your own team, an attractive option especially if you will also be developing your own applications for the ENGINE platform.
