Evolved Intelligence offers health check for roaming steering 12th May 2011
Evolved Intelligence, the network value added services company, has launched a health check for roaming steering systems in mobile operators. This reports on whether an operator’s steering system is causing a loss of customer service and revenue.
Says Robin Burton, Evolved Intelligence’s Head of Marketing: “Without roaming steering you simply can’t be competitive in the roaming business today. However, if it is not carried out carefully, it can damage user experience, lose revenue and even cost you customers. Some systems simplistically focus on achieving required attachment rate targets. However, without due regard for other key issues, you might achieve these targets but damage overall customer satisfaction and revenue in the process. Our health check study looks at these issues and helps you to get the optimum balance in the operation of your steering system.”
The Evolved Intelligence roaming health check is carried out using an analysis of SS7 messaging. The necessary data can be extracted using an existing probe or, if necessary, via Evolved Intelligence’s loss-less passive probe. The health check may also use radio probes to check for issues such as anti-steering.
In addition to checking the performance of the steering platform, the health check can look at a range of other issues including studying the overall available roamers and their behaviour, the steering policies of roaming partners, losses due to link provisioning issues and SS7 based fraud.
Says Evolved Intelligence CTO Nick Jones: “We have carried out health checks for a number of operators. Generally they see a payback that can be measured in weeks. In addition to helping them to manage their relationships with partners more effectively and watch out for fraud, we have been able to show where various issues are losing them inbound roaming traffic. Usually, for example, we can show them how to boost inbound roaming by between 5 and 15%. This on its own is usually more than enough to justify the exercise.”
